Bio

Iveta Hylasová Bachmannová ( English Horn and Oboe soloist), was born in Košice and studied Oboe with Prof. Štefan Sklenka at the conservatory in her home town. She continued her studies at the Prague AMU with Doc.Ludmila Ježová and completed the Summer Music Courses with Prof. Maurice Borgue and Prof. Jean Louis Capezzali. She won several competitions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, including the Czech Music Fund Prize for the best interpretation of a contemporary composer.

Her first orchestral appearance was as solo Oboist. In 1987 she joined the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra GMJO under the direction of Claudio Abbado, working there until 1988 with the renowned conductors  Václav Neumann, Marc Albrecht, Manfred Honeck and the famous Soprano Jessye Norman.

Iveta was a soloist Oboist in the Košice State Philharmonic in Slovakia from 1991 – 1993, then she appeared with the Symphony Orchestra of the City of Prague as solo English Horn player until 2003, working with such conductors as Jiří Bělohlávek, Jiří Kout, Libor Pešek, Serge Baudo, Peter Altrichter.

In 1994, she became a founding member of the Prague Chamber Philharmonic under the leadership of chief conductor Jiří Bělohlávek, where she served as solo Oboist until 2001. Since 2003 , she has held the position of solo English Horn in the Deutsche Oper Berlin Orchestra, in working with renowned conductors as Christian Thielemann, Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Donald Runnicles, Juraj Valčuha, Marc Albrecht.

Her solo performances with renowned Czech orchestras and festivals, such as Prague Spring, Concerts with Harmony Ensemble New York and Chamber Soloists of the Deutsche Oper Berlin show her varied repertoire, both as a solo performer and as a chamber musician.

Her CD recordings include Arthur Honegger`s Concerto for Flute, English Horn and Orchestra conducted by Serge Baudo with Symphony Orchestra of City of Prague FOK, a solo CD recording with music for the English Horn by Telemann, Haydn, Rejcha, Honegger, Francaix, a CD recording with the New York Ensemble, a CD recording with the Prague Madrigalists

Iveta is a regular guest at the Bamberger Symphony Orchester, Gewandhaus Orchester Leipzig, Staatskapelle Dresden, Hamburg Staatsoper, Komische Oper Berlin, Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin and Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin.
